Fashion Forward.

Removable partial dentures are super hip this summer; they are trending on twitter and are hot on the runways. So being the budding fashionista I am, I decided to embrace my inner vogue and began the process of designing my own removable partial denture (well not for me to wear….ok maybe I will try it.) Now for the dental terminology… the RPD above is designed for a Kennedy Class I dentition. We started by carving in rest seats on the distal canines and the mesial 1st PM, then added in the lingual bar and retention mesh. I actually worked with a partner on this exercise, so the left side of the mandible was designed by me and the right was designed by my partner (thats why it looks a tad asymmetric.) I will be designing many more RPD in the coming weeks so get ready. Happy Thursday everyone! (Seriously though, dentures trending on twitter…what a day!)

Hip..Hip-hop… Hip-hop-pulpotomy?

Well Hello All! I decided a little pulpotomy action was appropriate for today, actually my professors decided that. So below is a step by step pulpotomy… I know!!…contain yourself. This summer has been so busy… I can not believe that June is almost over already! I am not seeing any of my own patients this week because I am on a surgery rotation in the clinic. Boo yah! Hopefully some cool stuff goes down :) Happy Tuesday and enjoy the gory pictures below.

The setup. I put this in for old time sake… I haven't done it in awhile. Awww nostalgia. ^
Oh no! Is that a bloody bur I see?! Looks like it's time for a pulpotomy. ^

All Clean! Ready for some ZOE. (I know it still looks a little pink, but it is not… don't question me :) ^

Here are the finished SSC that I did not put up pictures of from my last post. Beautiful, right?! The patient loved them so much I am doing a full mouth of SSC on him next week! Jk.

Time to show some love…

Who knew people read this blog, right?!
Well the time has come to recognize a few people… and these two sassy's deserve a little love. It has been brought to my attention that they have faithfully read my blog… from the beginning… and they don't even understand it!! That's love! So here's to you, Shane and Julie, thanks for your undying support :)

Happy Tuesday Friends… oh P.S. I passed my boards.

Done!

How gorgeous is this?! Heavenly! ^
My reward for finishing…hitting the open road. ^

I have had a lot of people contact me and ask how the test went… my most honest answer is that it was hard. But that is to be expected, right?! I will give you a play by play of my day…

  • Woke at 5am… I had 4 alarms set. (paranoid much?)
  • Got ready and grabbed coffee. (don't worry I had my lunch packed and my clothes laid out from the night before…2nd grade style.)
  • Went to Denny's for breakfast and some last minute review…and lots of coffee.
  • Arrived at the testing center at 7:30am.
  • Went through check in and processing (included 2 ID's, photos, and 19 million finger prints)
  • Started test at 8am.
  • Finished my first 200 questions and took my lunch break around 11am.
  • Checked a few answers I didn't know (got them wrong), chugged a Rockstar, ate a banana and went for a walk around the building.
  • Started the second half about 30 min later.
  • Finished the test around 2 pm.
And that was that. The questions aren't crazy or full of foreign information… I think that is actually what made it frustrating for me. There was a lot of info that was on the tip of my tongue, but I just couldn't quite remember. I have heard that no one walks out of that test feeling awesome, and that held true for me. But after a few days of relaxing and not having to think about it, I am feeling better about the whole thing. Vacation is wonderful and I am relaxin to the max. Good Luck to anyone else preparing… you got this.

The view from out condo.. Life is good. ^
